Purpose:
The Accounting Assistant will perform various accounting and administrative duties such as recording necessary transactions, preparing financial reports and performing account reconciliations. Other duties include maintaining various General Ledger accounts and providing backup support to other administrative staff.
Responsibilities:
• Records routine transactions and adjusting journal entries.
• Gathers, reviews, and reports on various financial information.
• Performs entry-to-intermediate level account reconciliations.
• Performs data clean up functions, both routine and as assigned.
• Communicates with others in the organization to answer accounting related questions or resolve issues.
• Acts as first back-up to Accounts Receivable and assists other co-workers with related tasks as necessary.
• Assists with projects as directed by Director of Finance or Corp Admin Office Manager.
Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:
• 1+ years in an accounting position with experience in reconciliations.
• Understands accounting fundamentals.
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Knowledge of accounting systems and various computer programs.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to function in a team setting.
• College Diploma, University Degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
